Today we went in for the 20 week sonogram and found out that the crazy dreams I was having was actually telling me something. We are having a girl. I really thought it was going to be a boy so we have no names, no themes for the room, or really anything else. I had to go during work today which made it so difficult to go back and get something done!
Not much else is going on. I am getting larger everyday and I have felt baby girl kick a few times. They said that everything was looking great!
I will keep updating as new and exciting things happen!
On Tuesday, I will be 16 weeks along. Not too much new news since the last time I posted but we did get another sonogram. It is nice to see the baby in there and know that all is going well. At our last appointment we got to hear the heartbeat! That was beyond awesome! On my way home from the appointment I all of the sudden realized that we were REALLY having a baby! When I told Josh this is said, “You just now realized this???” It is probably a good thing that I was the one with the crazy freak out moment and not him! I easily got over it and continue to get more excited with each passing day.
I did tell my students that I was having a baby right before Christmas break. We played hangman and they had to guess what it said. Once they did some of the students looked really confused and one of them said, “YOU’RE going to have a baby?” (pointing at me with a really odd face) I said yes but not tomorrow it will be after school lets out for the summer. Eventually the were all excited too. I had another student ask if every student could touch my stomach. I said maybe later on down the road, but not now. I don’t know how I feel having 27 nine year old kids touching my belly…kinda weird!
My aunt wanted a picture of me all pregnant looking but that is just now starting to happen. Though my pants started to get tight a few weeks ago and am just now starting to get the “round” tummy going.
Only about five more weeks until we find out the sex of the baby!!!! I will be sure to post that the second I get home!

Yup, it is true! Josh and I will be having a baby at the end of June. According to our doctor my due date is June 22, 2010. We are both very excited and nervous at the same time. Right now I am 9 weeks along. My plan is to post some news weekly about what is going on and the progress of the baby. My next doctors appointment is Dec. 9. We will get to hear the baby’s heartbeat then!
Some stuff since we found out…
I actually took the pregnancy test on my birthday! What a wonderful gift! I had an in-service at school that day and it was hard to focus on what we were supposed to be doing since I had just taken the test. At this point I was more worried about how I would keep a secret from my sisters and mom until we went to the doctors to confirm everything.
The first doctors appointment was on Oct. 26th. We filled out a lot of paperwork and learned about a bunch of crazy tests that could be performed to see if the baby would have different disabilities. That really brought us back to reality. Of course since I was only right at 6 weeks along we couldn’t see a heartbeat but we did get a sonogram picture of the sac that the baby will live in for the time being.

We went back to the doctors on Nov. 11 to see the heartbeat. Wow! What an amazing sight to see! I know we will be seeing many of these in the future.

Well it has been a few weeks and dad is home doing really well. On Saturday he was able to go to church for the first time since being in the hospital. He has had several doctors appointments and all of them have been really positive. He is loosing weight (about 35 pounds so far) and feeling better. Of course, some days are better than others but he is overall doing very well. Tomorrow he will go in for his initial visit at the hospitals cardiac rehab…I am sure the pounds are going to continue to fly off.
As for the family, we are all doing well. We too are trying to improve our eating habits and get healthier. Kickball is going well. When Dad was in the hospital he kept saying that he hopes by next summer (cross our fingers) that he may be able to play with us. Of course, we will see.
All in all things are very good. We are just so lucky to have another chance to spend time with Dad and we are not taking it for granted…neither is he! I would say the hardest thing for him right now is that he is ready to feel better and ready to get out and his body just isn’t quite ready for all the Evans action! He will get there though…

In a sense I am embarrassed to say that I have never been to the American Royal BBQ. Being a BBQ lover I thought this would be the place to be. I gathered the husband and sisters and we ventured down to the American Royal. There were hundreds of tents. This had to be a type of heaven!
While wandering into the American Royal after paying $10 for parking and $10 per person to get in I was extremely disappointed! I had no idea that there would be fewer than five vendors actually SELLING their BBQ. We finally found a place to eat and by the time we had gotten to the front we saw the sign saying they had pulled chicken and pork. That was it! I figured I waited in line paid money to park and get in I might as well try it. I purchased the pulled chicken which was good (three out of five stars).
Once we all realized that there was no hope for filling my now empty stomach we decided to leave.
It was a very sad day but at least now I know what I am missing…not much!
Other than the sad day at the American Royal not much has been happening. Mom, Dad, and the kids have left and now live two blocks away (very nice when you don’t want to cook!). My birthday is next Tuesday, Oct. 16th and we are having a get together to hang out at my house on Oct. 13th to celebrate. Then on Oct. 20th I am having a Creative Memories party. I think I might actually have a hobby!!! Digital scrap booking is right up my alley!!!!
I hope all is going well for everyone and even though the news was sad about the American Royal BBQ, it is not going to bring me down…we will have BBQ on Saturday!!!!!
